Letters from Levi L. Pratt, at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, to Thomas Pratt, his brother, and other family members in Northampton, Mass., relating to Levi's activities with Jamaica Silk Co., trip from Boston, pirates, Samuel Whitmarsh (with whom he travelled), requesting newspapers from home, the silk industry, conditions of negroes, living conditions, mulberry trees, sawmill and cocoonery, failure of the silk project, a visit to Cuba where he associated with some businessmen from New England, the brig Albert, shipping in Cuba, and his return trip to Boston in 1841. Also includes letter (1841) to Charles Pratt, via Whitmarsh, in Ocho Rios, from Horace P. Pratt, in Northampton, relating to letter from Levi, school, conditions at home, and a flood.
